Help for Stacey - fight for survival

Donation protected
On the 21st June 2019, we learned that Stacey’s spine is much worse off than we could ever have imagined. She not only has Atlantoaxial instability (AAI) but rotation of the spine, curvature of the spine, left sided weakness, Possible Jugular compression, Spinal Instability from C0 (skull)- C2, then misses out C3 but further spinal instability C4 - C7.

This is a massive shock to us. Unfortunately, Stacey cannot wear a hard or soft collar due to the anatomy of her neck and also the fact that she has no muscle support in this area. It is all soft tissue so these types of collars could cause further issues. Stacey has been advised she can wear a self-inflating collar from time to time for a little relief.

There is nothing we can do to stop the spinal issues or to prevent further deterioration. Stacey’s symptoms will only get worse as time goes on.

We also want to be able to enjoy happy times as a family whilst we are able to. Stacey struggles with any length of activity as it leaves her exhausted and in agony. Stacey would also love to be able to be active with her Nephew Lucian who is 4 years old and be able to enjoy him more. Time as a family is so important to us as her father has an advanced and aggressive cancer diagnosis with only a few years prognosis.

We were initially fundraising for £100,000 to support with costs of surgery in Barcelona, but the family feel this is unachievable.

Stacey's mum says "this isn’t us giving up, myself, Stacey’s dad and the rest of our family want to see Stacey get better, to have the life she deserves and which she grieves for. We have various appointments coming up on the NHS so we are going to try and explore every possible angle. We know it is unlikely she will get the surgery on the NHS as all those before her have had to go abroad but we have to try, we just haven’t got £100,000 for her to have it without crippling us all financially and leaving two poorly people in an even worse scenario, yet achieving this target by crowd funding/fundraising is unachievable. Since the new plight #helpforstaceyafightforsurvival began on the 23rd June, £170 has been donated, Stacey has had a lot of trolls and negative comments on her Facebook page of late and this hasn’t helped us with trying to remain upbeat & positive”.

We now need your help and support to raise £5000 for assistance with all associated costs around these i.e. travel and accommodation etc. If any funds are unused, they will be donated to Mast Cell Action.

Finally, the family would like to thank everyone for their help, support and donations to date. It means a lot and has helped so much.

Please donate as much as you can whether that be £2, £5, £10 etc, it all helps.

Thank you
