Help Youth Stop Relationship Abuse

Donation protected
The young people in the Healthy and Responsible Relationships Troupe (HARRT ) are leaders in their communities and builders of their own futures.

Help fund their work to raise awareness around teen dating violence in the Central Valley.  This includes a 3-day training in San Francisco where they will learn to use technology for social change.

The total cost of this project is $15,000. We cannot do this without your support. Any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner every year. Teen dating violence is associated with increased substance abuse, unhealthy weight, sexual risk behaviors, pregnancy and suicide. One in three adolescents is a victim of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from a dating partner – it can happen to anyone regardless of sexual orientation, religion, gender, or socioeconomic background.

Our amazing teens:

The Healthy And Responsible Relationships Troupe (HARRT) , a group of 30 high school students from the Central Valley, are working to raise awareness around teen dating violence in their communities. HARRT youth leaders work collaboratively with their adult allies to enhance their knowledge and leadership skills to address violence, including advocating for school policies that address interpersonal violence.

How you can help our teens:

HARRT youth need your help in gaining the skills they need to develop and implement teen dating violence awareness and prevention campaigns that will reach at least 300 people in their communities, including high school students, teachers, administrators, parents and community leaders.

Our project:

HARRT will participate in a 3-day training in the San Francisco Bay Area where they will learn how to use technology for social change, including how to use hash tag activism to tell a story and raise awareness, how to have public conversations about important issues, and making an informed decision about becoming an online presence (cyberbullying, online privacy and dealing with trolls). The youth will also have the opportunity to meet young professionals that are using technology to make a difference in the world.

In conjunction with the training, the youth will develop teen dating violence awareness and prevention campaigns that will utilize the new skills they have gained during the training. The youth will then implement their campaigns in their communities.
