Zack's trip to Nat'l Children Choir

Hi there.. I'm Zack.. Here is a story about me. I am 10 years old & in the 5th grade @ Vogel Wetmore School. I play Little League baseball & PAL basketball. I also play the bell chimes at my church. I LOVE to read all types of books, especially the Harry Potter Series(those were my favorite)! I sometimes read scriptures during church services.
I enjoy helping others whenever I can. I give up my recess at school to help out with & have lunch with the kids in Special Ed classes, I mentor a 2nd grader who needs help in fluency as well. I recently wrote a paragraph on freedom & read it at our Veteran's Day celebration at school. I also recently received the Superintendent's Award for possessing leadership skills, being a positive role model & maintaining excellent academic progress! I was nominated for this award by my music teacher, Mr. Brandt.
I joined the school chorus when I was in 3rd grade because I loved to sing at home whether there was music playing or not. Mr. Brandt turned my love for music into something I could build on. He has a way of keeping the kids excited about music. Mr. Brandt has such enthusiasm for music & singing that it carries over to his students!! So, from that first year of trying chorus, I knew I loved it.
Last year I auditioned for the National Children's Choir, but unfortunately wasn't accepted. While I was disappointed, I didn't let it discourage me. I practiced over the summer with exercises Mr. Brandt gave me. I auditioned again this year & was beyond happy when my mom received the e-mail that said I was selected!! There's only 150 children across the whole country chosen & I was one of them!!! Being chosen just proved to me that my hard work & determination allowed me to succeed. I am so HAPPY!! I use the word "happy" because Happy is my favorite song & describes my personality perfectly!
This is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity for me. One that I will carry with me for life. Please consider supporting me as I represent my school, Vogel Wetmore, & my town, Torrington, in Minnesota at the National Children's Choir!!! Thank you.
