Meet the Good Samaritan Center—a nonprofit social service agency that assists families in emergency crisis situations. They help hundreds of families a month with free clothing, food assistance during emergency situations and a case manager, who cares about them and wants to inform them of all services available to them in the community.
The Good Samaritan Center has grown to include a main office in Jackson and a Community Soup Kitchen in Laurel, Mississippi. They help hundreds of families a month with free clothing, food assistance during emergency situations and a case manager, who cares about them and wants to inform them of all services available to them in the community. They strive to give a hand up and not a hand out.
They are in desperate need of funds for their food pantry so Steven James Insurance is stepping in to help! They often buy food to supplement what they receive in food donations. For instance, they may receive lots of spaghetti noodles from a local organization through a food drive, but have no pasta sauce. They will take donated funds and buy the sauce to make a complete meal for a family.
$38.70 buys food for one family of four for a week - They are able to use different services, to help keep this cost so low, as well as donation from food drives.
