Schrodinger Vs. Fibrosarcoma

Donation protected
I found Schrodinger  in the parking lot of the college I work. He had been hit by a car and had a broken front leg. I paid nearly $4000 to have his leg fixed with a titanium rod. He has been a happy dog ever since, for more than nine years now.
Well folks, today I got Schrodinger's biopsy report. He has a low-grade fibrosarcoma growing in his soft palate, near the site where his bad teeth were removed. It's difficult to make a prognosis for this type of cancer; it can be slow growing and though it generally doesn't metastasize, it can invade surrounding bones and connective tissue. Further growth is problematic, due to the location of the tumor along the dog's airway.
Schrodinger continues to eat well; last night I took him on a 3.5 mile walk which he enjoyed very much. I plan to take him out again tonight.
He is taking tramadol for pain management.
I am going to do phone consult with a veterinary oncologist on Monday, but we are still moving in a direction that is palliative rather than surgical. Each day is a miracle for all of us and Schrodinger certainly enjoys the attention and cheeseburgers he is getting. You can help by sending us good vibes, meditating, praying or cheering on the old boy as he faces eternity. We don't know what the future will bring, but our love and commitment is strong here. Further financial support will go directly examinations, x-rays, and pain management medication. Thanks again for your concern and help, it's humbling.
