Francesca's Medical Fund

I am here to tell you about an amazing woman who is experiencing a very unfortunate reality. Francesca Zola was the first person to befriend me when I moved to Lancaster almost 4 years ago, and she has been beside me through some of my own misfortune. She has been involved in countless fundraising campaigns (including St. Baldrick's for children with cancer, United Way Day of Caring, and the Philadelphia AIDS Walk) and has just this year won 2 awards in Millersville University's undergraduate program. One is the Marion G. Foster Award for a social work student in their junior year who best exemplifies Foster's qualities - dedication to the social work profession, a genuine respect for people, and demonstrated academic excellence under extraordinary circumstances. She was the only student nominated by another student for this award. The other award was in honor of Social Work Awareness Month, and she was chosen by the Social Work Department to receive the award.
Francesca has been suffering from several major health problems - Clostridium difficile colitis (also known as C Diff), and she will be in surgery for a lumpectomy in the coming months. Because of the C Diff, she will actually be needing a fecal transplant. (Yeah, look it up.) Just this past week she was in the hospital for a colonoscopy and endoscopy, and had to have biopsies done to gather more information. She is also getting her ovaries evaluated as they have been inflamed for some time. She is also recovering from having a polyp removed.
Francesca needs as much help as friends and family can provide to help cover costs for treatment and evaluation. Medical bills are hefty, and although she is working full-time at the hospital where she's receiving treatment (and going to school full-time), she is unable to meet all of the financial obligations related to her health conditions.
I know that most people are struggling to meet their own needs right now, but if you are able to reach out and donate to help my dear friend, it would be such a beautiful gesture, and I know she would feel warm and full of gratitude!! Our goal is $5,000, but let's try to beat it!
