On Thursday, 10/30 I took my precious two year old kitty to the emergency vet because he hadn't been eating and had lost significant weight (6 lbs is a lot for a cat to lose.) Turns out he has severe pancreatitis which caused him to stop eating and in turn caused him to have Fatty Liver Disease. They kept him over night and I cried for hours, they kept him friday night as well.
On Saturday night they released him to me, after visiting him and seeing him hooked up to tubes and stuff I asked if there was any way I could take care of him at home myself because it broke my heart, with all kinds of medications to give him, after paying $2,000 for all of the tests and the over night stay. I was hopeful that things would get better from here, that he was on the road to recovery. But, that's not the case.
Today (sunday) I had to call in to work to bring him in so they could run blood tests. Turns out his bilirubin levels are WORSE ( meaning his Fatty Liver Disease is worse) and they want me to bring him back tonight to stay overnight tonight and possibly tomorrow. They will be putting him under and making an incision on the side of his neck to insert a feeding tube. I'm almost positive that all of this will cost MORE than the goal I set, but I don't want to ask for any more than I need.
Before all of this I was already in debt, working at a retail job, and living paycheck to paycheck. I don't know what else to do. If you can give anything, even a dollar, it would be so appreciated and would insure that we have enough to get him the treatment he needs to survive.
