Feeding Charlotte

Our Communication studies class (Small Group Communications) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte was asked to complete the following assignment over the course of the semester in a group of five: Pick a community service project that your group can effectively design, collect donations, and finish over the course of one semester. None of the money may come out of the group members’
pockets, and it must benefit some group within the community, directly. Our group came up with the idea, “Feeding Charlotte” which is essentially giving some of the underprivileged  families in our area the daily necessities that they are lacking. So far we have collected about $30 through our “Donuts for Donations” table at the Student Union.  We also set out donation boxes for clothing, toiletries, and sleeping essentials that we will pick up near the end of our project. After collecting the necessary donations we plan to target multiple families who have ties to the local food bank. We will be creating a box of daily essentials for each family as well as using the money to both buy more material items, non perishable food items, and providing a cooked meal for the families. Any
donations would be greatly appreciated.
