In July 2012, Constance (Connie) Griffith married the love of her life, a man that many saw as a mentor and dear friend: Kevin Kanai Griffith.  As a Senior Artist for Blizzard Entertainment, Kevin’s artwork filled the screens of every Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft player.  A life-long gamer, Kevin always sought to improve the creative community in the industry.  He even co-founded a local sketch group to inspire others to share their work with the world.

Just six months prior to Constance’s big day, Kevin was diagnosed with Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS), a very rare form of cancer.  Mere days after their wedding, the newlywed couple embarked on their first trip to Germany, where Kevin would undergo experimental laser surgery to remove 129 tumors from his right lung.  This surgery cost over $70,000 out of the Griffiths’ own pockets and was Kevin’s best chance for survival.  It was the first of many expensive treatments that Kevin and Connie would need to take on over the next two years, as they fought to have more time together.

On October 17, 2014, Kevin passed away.  He bravely battled cancer, taking time to inject humor and hope into his friends’ lives despite his own pain.  He even continued to test his own artistic talents, whenever his strength would allow him.

Kevin’s illness has had enormous emotional and financial repercussions for Connie.  She had to take considerable time off from her job at Carbine Studios to care for Kevin, acting as his wife, best friend, caretaker, and advocate.  To make matters worse, Connie clashed from the start with insurance companies, who delayed coverage repeatedly.

Connie and her family have been battling for years, but they cannot do it alone.  Friends and family were generous enough to help raise funds for Kevin’s care in the past.  Here’s your chance to help Connie.

If you know Connie or someone else who has been affected by cancer and the financial and emotional burden it brings, please lend your support.  You can help Constance by donating directly to her cause or simply sharing her story.  Thank you.

In Connie’s own words from one of her blog posts: "Do me a favor. Share this story. One day, this could be your story."
