Emergency Surgery for Luigi

Donation protected
Our sweet dachshund, Luigi, suddenly lost function in his rear legs on Saturday morning. A rush trip to the emergency vet and the neurologist indicates IVDD, a disease that has weakened his vertebrae & has caused a spontaneous hernia.

Because of the pain and severity of the compression on his spine, he is undergoing emergency surgery to halt complete paralysis. He has a good prognosis - the surgery has a high success rate. We could not, in good conscience, pass on the small window of opportunity to ensure his long life & good health.

The cost is not casual: this momentary leap of faith will have a long, deep impact over the next several years or more. We are a hard-working couple of queers and are already scheming, scrounging, inventing the many ways of digging deep. This is just one of them.

So, we're humbly passing the hat on behalf of our brave, handsome & well-loved little friend. A great majority of our friends & family are also pretty strapped right now. There's a lot of need in the world, and nobody realizes it more than we do. But if you can spare a few dollars or just pass the word along to the animal lovers in your life, we can assure you: Luigi is worth it!

With love,
Emma, Francesca & Luigi
