Spring Hill 8th Grade Field Trips

The 8th grade students and staff at Spring Hill Middle School are excited for our upcoming field trips. We find field trips to be an important way to extend the curriculum and get students excited for their future. Due to the changes in legislation and having 100% of our students being on free lunch, we are in danger of our field trips being extinct. Therefore, we are asking for your donations to make our upcoming field trips a reality.

One of our planned field trips is a tour of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The teachers see this as an opportunity to explore a prestigious college campus in hopes of getting our students excited for their futures. We currently have very little funding for this trip and cannot ask students to pay for it, due to recent changes in legislation.

We also have a three day field trip to Charleston, South Carolina. While in Charleston, we will be exploring the historic aspects by visiting the Charleston Museum, taking a tour of Patriots Point, the Old Slave Market and Provost Dungeon. We will also have fun visiting the old market, seeing the aquarium, and going to Folley Beach. Due to the many activities we have planned, the cost of the hotel and busses, the trip is currently at $350 per person to go.

Although we have fundraisers planned, we are asking you to help make this trip possible by sponsoring our field trips to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Charleston. As teachers, we believe that for many of our students these are once-in-lifetime opportunities to get out and explore the world outside of Scotland County. We appreciate your time and consideration.
