Katsu needs surgery

We've had Katsu since he was six weeks old. He was absolutely the best gift anyone could ever give us (and still is), He stole our hearts the first night we had him. He is the best puppy ever. The boyfriend and I have spared no expense when it comes to food and veterinarian care (keeping him up to date on vaccinations, micro chipping and getting him neutered). He sleeps on our bed every night and has done so since the first night home. Sadly Katsu potentially has a major internal birth defect called Ectopic Ureter, which is a mis-placement/mal-placement of the ureter (tube from kidney to bladder). This condition is rare in male dogs/pups and causes urine to leak into the urethra and then out when Katsu is sleeping or at rest. Now Jamie and I were willing to deal with the occasional dribble of urine because the surgery is not guaranteed to work, but after discussing it further with the vet Katsu would constantly be at risk for getting UTI (urinary tract infections), penile infections and possibly bladder infections. We also discussed putting Katsu on long term, low dosage antibiotics to inhibit infections from happening, but that is something that does not work in animals. Surgery is scheduled for Katsu October 29th bright and early there is no alternative. It has to be done in order to try and keep him healthy and happy and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the procedure will be a huge success. Surgery is never inexpensive and this one is going to put a strain on our already very tight budget and we are hoping that we could raise some donations to help defray the cost of surgery, missed work, and follow up visits to the vet.
