On April 20th my mother was scheduled for a routine colonoscopy because she had turned 50 and my grandmother died of colon cancer it was time for her to go get one. The doctor found a ulcer in her small intestine which he biopsied and it turned out to be cancer. He then rescheduled her for a second colonoscopy so he could biopsy it again. When she woke up from the second colonoscopy she was in terrible pain. The doctor sent her for a CT scan. Come to find out she had a small puncture in her colon and was then sent for emergency surgery. Her surgeon Dr. Frattini did a small intestine resection and removed a foot of my mothers small intestine. This all happened on Monday, May 18th and she was then sent home Thursday, May 21st. By that Friday she was as sick as a dog. She then called the surgeon and he prescribed her medication to help the reduce the bile she was vomiting. In the mean time after a surgery like that your bowels go to sleep which was also making her very sick. She wasn't even able to sip water. After 48 hours of taking this medicine she was feeling better. By the following weekend she was very sick again her bowels had woken up and she had terrible stomach pain with that the doctor told her to change her diet and start eating a lot of starchy food which helped tremendously. So my mom started to feel a lot better. She even went and did a little shopping! Then this past Sunday she stared feeling really sick. She had terrible pain in her right side under her rib cage and back. On Monday morning my sister Jackie called the doctors office and we went to pick up a script for another CT scan to see what was causing all the pain. She ended up in the emergency room because she was almost going to pass out in the wheelchair. They did the scan and come to find out she now needs her gallbladder removed. I guess when it rains it pours. They were going to hold off on removing her gaulbladder because she just had surgery.  Mom started her first round of chemotherapy on July 27th then she had her second round the following week on August 3rd. Tuesday August 4th mom was not feeling well she was having the same pain when her gaulbladder was acting up so she called her doctor and on August 5th, she went it and had her gaulbladder removed she is feeling much better and is home now. She has to heal from the gaulbladder surgery and wait to start her chemotherapy again.
