EVENING LIGHT TABERNACLE- JOURNEY OF FAITH

We find ourselves in 2014 starting a building project for a new facility to accommodate our growing congregation and to be a greater outreach both here and worldwide.  From our humble beginnings of home meetings in 1972, we then moved into an old abandoned church built in 1878.  After cleaning and basic renovations of heating and electricity additions, the fledging congregation of 13 people had a place of worship.  We felt blessed!

This old church remained our home for 24 years, during which time various remodeling jobs were done as money permitted.  As the word was preached, the congregation steadily grew.  The old church would no longer accommodate the numbers.  Through the years, Bro. Pruitt had saved enough money and the decision was made to build a new church.   We never borrowed; the policy was always “pay as you go.”  The new building was completed in 1996 followed by a new fellowship hall in 2000.

Evening Light has been an outreach to countless youth nationwide through our annual Spring Youth Camp we have hosted for 28 years.  We also reach people around the world with our tape ministry and internet site.  The church has sent ministers to spread the Gospel to Mexico, Russia, Lithuania, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Fiji Islands, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Nigeria, Norway, Germany, Holland, Serbia, Trinidad, Guyana, and nearly every province in Canada.  Our one desire is to direct souls to a “Living God” and have them experience a new birth in Christ.

The congregation has continued to grow; we are glad to say the sanctuary is full.  Once again, we needed a bigger building, but we found ourselves landlocked as there was no land available nearby to expand.  In 2012, with saved money, Evening Light purchased 38 acres near the town of Minden.  The location is very advantageous for outreach and accessibility.  A new building has been started, but we find ourselves still in need of about $325,000.  We are asking for your help!!  Your donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated, for it would help us continue to “be His witness unto all men.”
