Hello, My name is Rebecca.
I have Autism Spectrum Disorder (as well as a few other disabilities) and live with my son alone in a flat some time away from my mother. My mother has general osteoarthritis (which has restricted her to a wheelchair for outside and sometimes crutches inside), intercranial hypertension and a few other disabilities.
We're both disabled and both help each other out as much as we can, but although it's considered a relatively short distance between us - it can be hard for us to get to each other (there's some steps that my mother can't manage) and so we don't get to see each other as much as we desperately need to so that we can help each other. My mother would need to be able to stay overnight at my place which isn't fit for her to do so right this moment.
So I'm asking here on GoFundMe to raise some funds so that I can make a few modifications to my home so that my mother can stay here overnight when necessary which will ease some of our issues.
When I moved in I already asked for access from my council. The council and government refuse to help to make accommodations for my "visitors" to the flat - so they won't help us make the necessary adaptions so that mum can visit us properly. Why we are asking for the help is because we need to do it off our own back. We can't raise the funds ourselves without help which is the only reason I'm asking.
My son adores his grandmother and desperately wants to see her more often - but we can't see her too often and it must always be visits to my mother's house which I can't always manage. So please help.
