I am raising money on behalf of Chris Williams' project. Chris is due to be released from prison in 3 weeks for a fight he had 2 years ago.
He was recently incarcerated for getting into a fight while he was homeless, though he was only protecting himself as he is barely five feet tall, something that made life while homeless difficult. Chris certainly is not a physical threat, standing at just over 5 feet, he looks more like a teenager than an adult.
His mother died in childbirth when he was 13, and his father died shortly after.
He is the oldest of eight children and has tried all his life to support both himself and other members of his family with a lawn care and gardening business, but he never had enough funding to succeed.
He was previously mistaken to have stolen $20. He was arrested, and although he didn’t resist arrest or have a weapon, the police knocked his front teeth out and because of it, he is shy and doesn't smile much. Now, in addition to being poor, without family, without housing, and without a job, he is afraid to open his mouth and show his teeth. His confidence is low, but his faith in that someone will give him a second chance is high.
He LOVES to work outdoors in the yard, and when he gets out of incarceration, I want him to have his business so that he won't have to be homeless..again.
I am on a fixed income and cannot afford the equipment on my own, but I will help in any way that I can. He will need equipment such as a lawn mower, gardening tools, a power washer, and trimmer/blower. GoFundMe takes a percentage of all donations so the goal is set at $2,000 to insure enough funds will be raised to purchase everything needed to run a lawn care business.
He has never wanted welfare or disability, although he walks with a limp from being run over by a car 14 years ago.
This act of kindness from you all will really shock him because he has no one and has almost lost faith in humanity.
