Hi everyone,
My name is Mike and I would like to share my story with you. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes at age 4. Since my diagnosis, I have endured thyroid cancer, diabetic neuropathy in my hands, lower legs and feet, 13 eye surgeries and now, I am suffering from Micro Vascular Disease, Acute Osteomylitis, multiple foot surgeries and I have had 4 toe amputations. I was once a very active guy; I worked a full time job in a factory on my feet 8-10 hours per day, I play(ed)/coach ice hockey and I very much enjoy being an active part of my family as I have a daughter, step daughter and step son who are very active in sports. Due to my current medical issues, my podiatrist has informed me that I am now unable to work. My physical limitations are preventing me from working a job that I have enjoyed for 15 years and I have had to give up playing ice hockey, but I will never give up coaching. Physically, my diabetes has gotten the best of me but never mentally. I am doing my best to remain strong for my family, they depend on me. My wife is my rock. She suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and is currently taking chemo medications to fight her battle. She is working full time and working hard.. doing her best to support our family, but unfortunately, it is just not enough :-( We have pretty much exhausted all of our resources and now, I am humbly turning to the Gofundme.com website in hopes that I can raise some money for our medical expenses, food, shelter and to help care for our children while I await the final decision from Social Security. Please know that my family appreciates any and all donations from our family and friends <3 We love you all <3
