Man falls 10 stories on honeymoon

Jesse and Destiny Martin were married on May 25th, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The honeymoon was like a dream for a couple days,  until Jesse had a horrific accident, falling 10 stories through a vent shaft inside the hotel stairwell. He laid there unconscious for hours until he finally woke up and kicked his way out of the shaft and miraculously walked back to his hotel room, where his new wife had been waiting for him all night, terrified that something terrible had happened.

The dream quickly turned into a nightmare when he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The doctors discovered that he had fractured both eye sockets, had fractures at the base of his skull and nose, and had a deep laceration on his nose, all the way to the cartilage, which was visible before he received stitches. For the first 24 hours, he was leaking spinal fluid, but fortunately suffered no brain injuries.

After a 4-day stay in ICU in Las Vegas, Jesse was released to the care of Destiny and his parents, who had stayed with them throughout the ordeal, and together they drove back 1100 miles to Oklahoma City.

Jesse will be out of work for at least 4 weeks, as his job requires intensive physical exertion. His wife will work as much overtime to make ends meet, and they will need as much help as possible to overcome this tremendous obstacle. They remain thankful that Jesse survived the fall, no matter what the cost and look forward to spending the rest of their lives together.
