Financial Assistance for Medical Bills

Hello Everyone,

What happened?

Let's take a moment to appreciate Bonnie Cadena and Christy Salinas. They are a headstrong pair, who love life wholeheartedly and endlessly. God is at the center of their friendship and it shows. They would do anything for their friends and family, and I believe we should do the same.

It's been a little over a year since Christy has been suffering from facial issues that include a facial droop on her left side, no control over her smile, and unable to use the left side of her face due to Bell’s Palsy. This has also taken a huge toll on her as it has caused blurred vision and hearing loss. When she received the diagnosis of Bell's palsy, the doctors also said she was suffering from tremendous facial pain called Trigeminal Neuralgia. We hoped that there wouldn't be any more complications, but further testing showed a Meningioma, a brain tumor. After being prescribed multiple medications, her gallbladder was removed thus prohibiting pain medication. She has had bouts of depression, signs of PTSD and has been experiencing stroke symptoms which are worsening increasingly making it difficult to determine certain symptoms during episodes. They are now getting multiple second opinions in the areas of her treatment which may lead to a future surgery depending on the findings of the additional testing. Through dealing with frequent episodes of shocking and sharp pain, being the fighter that she is she continues to endure for her loved ones.

Both are dealing with their own medical bills, appointments, working and going to school full time, which we all know can be stressful. They are also behind in household financial responsibilities due to all the appointments and other medical needs.

A little background

Christy is a vibrant, caring and loving woman. She has a heart of gold and an appreciation for the human mind as she majored in Psychology. She loved her job at Old Navy as she was in the middle of a promotion process. With multiple surgeries, medications, occupational therapy session, one can see how these sudden financial responsibilities can be overwhelming. Due to these health-related issues, she could no longer perform her duties at work without risking herself and school was placed on the back burner. Today, she is striving, managing her health and finding ways to make ends meet.

Bonnie is a creative, compassionate and loving woman. She has a great appreciation for the musical arts and loves teaching others about it. As a caregiver, she possesses extreme patience and understanding. She has been by Christy's side without hesitation in every situation. Bonnie is a wonderful and passionate caregiver, but we recently found out that she will be embarking on her own medical journey. She will be receiving testing for possibilities of multiple arthritis and enlarged lymph nodes in her neck (cervical) and back (thoracic) regions as well as a breast ultrasound. Today, she is pushing through with fierce determination to make sure she and Christy are in great health and financial stability.

How can you help?

As her friend, who has witnessed their tireless efforts dealing with financial difficulty due to medical bills, I hope that beginning this campaign would offer any kind of relief of their financial burden. We would like to raise $6,000, to offer relief from medical bills, household bills and any other additional cost (medication, appointment copays...etc) they might need. The need of this financial help is urgent.  If you can please find it in your heart to donate to offer this family relief, we would greatly appreciate it. You have our deepest thanks for your generosity and prayers.

Raising Awareness

Our further mission is to raise awareness of these life altering diseases and disorders so that other people may be able to prepare themselves better, possibility of prevention, or even reach out to others for support and comfort.

Trigeminal Neuralgia

“Trigeminal neuralgia is as a chronic, debilitating condition resulting in brief and intense episodes of facial pain in the distribution of one or more branches of the fifth cranial nerve (1-3). The episodes of facial pain are sporadic, sudden and often like “electric shocks”, lasting from a few seconds to several minutes. Causes leading to Trigeminal Neuralgia may be either spontaneous or other causes such as a tumor, obstruction of the blood supply to an organ or region of tissue, and multiple sclerosis.

Unfortunately, there is no definitive cure for trigeminal neuralgia at present. Relapses and reoccurrences may occur with significant diseases; however, a large amount of medical and surgical treatment options do exist to alleviate the patient’s symptoms… The estimated annual incidence of trigeminal neuralgia is 12.6 per 100000 persons per year. Trigeminal neuralgia is as a chronic, debilitating condition, which can have a major impact on quality of life.  Bottom of Form
