Feet on the Ground Project

Donation protected
The Feet On The Ground Movement (co-produced by Danny Serfaty and Ashlinn Gallagher) is the culmination of nearly three decades of studying social anthropology, civil rights, and the role of mainstream media. The project is the union of Danny's work as a foundry man specializing in monumental bronze sculptures and Ashlinn's studies on the impact of media on politics in our networked society.

The intention of the project is to place bronze footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr’s shoes at monumental turns in the Civil Rights movement. We will start in Selma, Alabama in the beginning of January and head north towards the Washington Monument, taking the same route as the marchers during the Civil Rights Movement. The last pairs of bronzed footsteps will be placed at the base of the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial in Washington, DC. by January 20th.

The footsteps serve as a reminder that we can unite our nation and achieve equal rights through peaceful and nonviolent means. Every step of the journey will be documented. Two feet on the ground, hand-in-hand, united in peaceful determination... true change is possible

The funds raised will enable us to bring our documentary crew and contribute towards materials, transportation, supplies, etc.
