Dominican Republic Mission Trip

God has given me an amazing opportunity to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with my church, Fellowship Church Round Rock. I will spend part of my winter break participating in evangelistic ministries with Makarios. Makarios’ mission is to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of impoverished people in the developing world through Christ-centered, sustainable educational and outreach programs.
What is Makarios?
Makarios is located right in the middle of the community they minister to. Makarios seeks to minister to the surrounding community through different mediums. One way Makarios provides for the community is through education. This is done through the Colegio Makarios (Makarios School) that instructs children from three different impoverished communities. Makarios provides for the students’ physical needs through provision of clean drinking water, a vitamin, and two hot meals a day to every child attending school. Makarios also facilitates access to medical care and conducts health awareness programs throughout the community. Finally, Makarios believes the most important way to help the community is to share with them the loving message of the gospel.

Our Trip:
We will leave on January 2 and return on January 9. The cost of the trip is $1,650, which includes my transportation, lodging, meals, and the cost of the mission’s project we will be undertaking while we are there.
Why me? Why you?
I believe the commission to GO and to SERVE is important in every Christian’s life. I believe that if the Lord provides an opportunity for you to do His will and share His word with others; we are called to obedience to this commission. I believe the Lord has called me to go on this college mission trip with my home church to further His ministry, and for Him to use me as a vessel and reveal more of Himself to me. I believe the Lord is sovereign over all, especially this trip and I believe if it is His will, it will be done. (James 4:15) If the Lord wills, I will go to the Dominican Republic. I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider being a part of this team through your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. Whatever amount God might lead you to give will be a GREAT blessing to me, and to the people I have the opportunity to minister to in the Dominican Republic.
