Creighton's kids for Autism a non profit organization established in 2014 to serve the needs of the growing western New York Autistic community. Each year more and more children are diagnosed with Autism. Creighton's kids for Autism wants to provide not only products to better enrich these children's lives, but also to support the everyday challenges both the parents and children struggle with. This year as a way to support those in need Creighton's Kids for Autism will be hosting a charity called Angels for Autism in which we will support families who have been diagnosed with Autism. Our goal is to supply 3 children and 2 adults who have Autism with the best Christmas they have ever had. To support the families in need we will raise $1000 for each of the individuals we will be supporting this Christmas. Our aim is to raise $5000 dollars, but if we exceed this amount we will aim to support even more families in need this Christmas season. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated and put to good use as we try to put a smile on as many faces as we can this Christmas.
Autism is far more common than many people realize because you can't always see the syndrome. 1 in every 68 children born are diagnosed with autism syndrome. As more families experience the struggles of autism their financial burden can drastically increase as specialized equipment is required for the care of their special needs child.
To understand the full scope of the economic strain of the parents who have a child with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), there is an estimated $17,000 - 21,000 annual cost in caring for these children (depending on the severity of the disorder) compared to parents who do not have a child with ASD. Additionally, medical expenditures for those with ASD were an additional $4,110 - $6,200 per year as opposed to those without ASD.
Our goal of $5000 can only be obtained from the support of generous donors and every dollar earned will go towards putting a smile on the face of a child with special needs. Here at Creighton's Kids for Autism we would like to thank everyone who donates for their generous support in making our dream a reality, and remember everyone that donates is considered an angel to the families we help.
