My name is Amber Capra. Melissa and Chris are my dear friends from college. Many of us know about Chris' brave fight against this horrible disease. I know their worries are many... But I was hoping we all could make medical bills one less!
Chris is being treated with epoch-r chemotherapy at The NIH in Bethesda. Melissa and Chris spend 5 nights and 6 days at a Marriott 2 miles from NIH campus while Chris is being treated. They had previosuly traveled daily from Fairfax where Melissa's sister lives, but that commute was a lot for Chris once the fatigue began to worsen. It was also a lot traveling with their daughter since they always wanted to give her their all when at times shoudl have been resting, especially Chris.
Treament at The NIH is free. The bi-weekly labs at home, emergency room visits, inpatient visits and any other complications in Philadelphia are not covered. They are working their way towards reaching their maximum out of pockets expense. And then I hope that they can pay off the hotel stays, including the costs of eating each meal out.
Please know that Chris and Melissa both have and would give you the shirt off of their backs. I know Melissa's goal is to have the bills be a non issue so she can focus on the family. It is my hope that The Bocages can enter 2015 cancer free and some of their costs from this illness can be offset, so they can get back to "normal" just as soon as they possibly can.
