Let me take a few moments to tell you about my best friend. Colleen and I have known each other since we were kids. We went to the same school, were in the same grade, had the same friends. We have been inseparable for as long as I can remember.
Colleen is 23 years old. She is the mother of 2 daughters, and 1 infant son. Her mother died when she was young, of a heart attack, so she never really got to fully KNOW her mom. She's been told she looks and acts JUST like her, which has been comforting for all these years.
She has two daughters, Leila and Shannon. Leila is four years old, Shannon will be six in November. Both girls are exceptional learners, extremely cute, and in perfect health. They love to draw, play, joke, etc.
Colleen also has an infant son, Christian. Christian is 4 months old, and screams bloody murder whenever she leaves his side. Already such a "momma's boy"
Earlier this week, Colleen was diagnosed with cancer, and it was suggested she follow up with a local Cancer Center. Upon arriving, tests were performed, and it was discovered she has Stage 4 Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma. This is an extremely rare type of cancer that as of now is uncurable. Chemo and other radiation treatments have been ultimately ineffective in treating this disease. She is the strongest woman I know, but doctor's can't predict how much longer she has left.
I am trying to set up a funding account to help get her any and every option available. We live outside of Philadelphia, where there is a plethora of top-notch facilities available, though the costs can be unbearable. Please, if you've taken the time to read my story, even if you yourself can't contribute, do us the favor and share this link. Passing it on may be the difference between getting the necessary treatment or leaving behind 3 young children.
