Clean Water for 3rd World

Hi, my name is Rachel. I am 13 years old and I am a student at Bedford Academy. I have spent the last 2 years inventing and developing a system to filter and purify water. I was able to remove 100% of E. coli from the contaminated water I tested during my experiments. I won a Silver Medal in 2014 at the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) and then further developed my system winning the top prize at the Regional Science fair, a Gold Medal at this year's CWSF as well as the Best Junior Environmental Project Challenge.
I would like to patent my system, manufacture it and send it to 3rd world and developing countries to provide clean drinking water and to help make clean water more accessible. My system would also be very helpful during devastating natural disasters, such as the Cholera outbreak in Haiti.
Approximately 80% of all illnesses in developing countries are caused by poor water and sanitation conditions. It is common for women and girls to walk several kilometers every day to fill water containers and provide water for their families. Unsafe water, along with low sanitation and hygiene represent the leading cause of death in developing countries especially in young children. These contaminants can lead to many various debilitating and deadly waterborne diseases, such as Cholera, Rotavirus and others. Providing clean safe drinking water will improve quality of life around the world.
