Please help Scotty and Elizah as they stand beside Tripp and pray for miracles.: At about 7 pm Wednesday evening Tripp was riding his bike and got hit by a vehicle. He was life flighted from CRMC to Tallahassee. He has a broken femur, fractured pelvis and most critical of all is a cranial fracture and a critical brain injury. He underwent brain surgery Wed. Night around 9:30 to remove broken pieces of his skull fragments out of his brain. The surgery was complicated and took longer than expected due to a skull fragment that was deeper than they expected that caused more bleeding thus causing the need for a blood transfusion. Towards the end of surgery, His brain began to swell at a rapid rate forcing our Neuro surgeon to remove part of his skull to make more room and relieve pressure. A surgery that was expected to take around 45minutes to an hour turned into 3 hours of waiting anxiously. Around midnight we met with Neuro Surgeon after surgery and he wasn’t very hopeful because of the current rate his brain was swelling. He basically told us it wasn’t looking good and he had done all he could do and that Tripp was gonna need a miracle to survive. After he left the room We hit our knees and fell face first in the floor in anger, disbelief, tears, shock, and pure anguish and began to beg and plead out to God for a miracle. About 20 minutes later Neuro Surgeon came back in and said that his ICP (Inner Cranial Pressure) (how they measure pressure and swelling of brain) (which is normally 8-15) had dropped from 70 down to 50 and that the swelling was beginning to go down. He only offered this info as “Cautious Hope” because he didn’t want To get our hopes up from our original meeting with him, BUT that it was a miraculous turn from the previous condition. They got him moved into ICU and hooked to more machines and tubes than you could count. Our amazing doctors got Tripp heavily sedated so that he could sleep deeply in zero pain so there was no extra stress on his brain they also came up with a plan of giving a combination of several different medicines that should aid in the reduction of swelling. We sat up with Tripp in the ICU all night; praying and glued to the live monitor that showed his ICP numbers. By the Grace of God, and wonderful execution by the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital his ICP numbers continued to slowly drop all night. They went from about 45 all the way down to 30 by Thursday morning. They continued the same treatment all day day on Thursday and his ICP dropped down to an AVG of about 22 for most of the day. Around 8 o’clock last night it had began to slowly go back up and was back in the high twenties. This was not good but it wasn’t something to panic about. We have been reminded how absolutely complicated our brains are and how many 100’s of things in our bodies that can affect them. The doctors have been constantly getting numbers readings and adjusting different medication to see what Tripp’s brain responds to. Please pray for wisdom for all his doctors and nurses to make the right decisions to help Tripp get better.
