Hi! We're Karam and Erik, and this is the U.S. Ride to Save Lives! We’re bicycling across the U.S.A. to end suicide and brain cancer, in honor of our lost friends and family. And we need your help!

100% of proceeds are split between the Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (S.A.V.E.) charity and the American Brain Tumor Association (A.B.T.A).

Origins:

In March of 2019, the world lost a great soul in Joey Morra. It was a shock to all when he was found dead of suicide at just 25.

Joey was just about to finish medical school in Syracuse, NY.  He had completed the requirements for his M.D. degree and planned on pursuing a specialty in psychiatry. He had excelled in medical school: been awarded with a humanitarian award by his peers, received his white coat and matched with an excellent residency hospital.

But Joey had silently suffered from depression. He didn't tell friends. His loving family tried to intervene, but by then, the disease had ripped away the Joey we all knew. When Joey died, Karam grieved for a childhood friend who had represented so much in brains and talent.

Around this same time, Erik called Karam. Recently, Erik had met with a family friend in New York City, who had just rowed across the Atlantic with a friend. Listening to his friend’s stories, Erik became inspired and began looking for a feat of similar magnitude that he could undertake. Biking across the country came quite suddenly to mind.

He called and without hesitation, Karam agreed to go. He resolved that if they were to cross the country, they would do so in part in memory of Joey, and to raise money to end suicide.  Erik, grasping Karam’s ideal, decided that he would also take up the challenge on behalf of his Uncle Marc, who had died of brain cancer at 13. Marc was a bright young boy and beloved son and brother. He is also riding for his brother, Henry, who had suffered from a brain tumor in 2012, but thankfully survived.

Proceeds will be split between the SAVE non-profit in honor of Joey, and the American Brain Tumor Association in honor of Marc. 90% will go to charity. 10% will support Karam and Erik's journey across 3000 miles.  With your help, we can make a difference.

The U.S. Ride to Save Lives was born from the sense of adventure and will to help others whose lives have been affected by the afflictions of suicide or brain tumors. With your support we will be able to make a large donation to these SAVE and ABTA, and in doing so, save lives. Thank you so much - from the bottom of our hearts.
