Tom Wade for Brian House Children's Hospice

Tom has attended Brian House Children's Hospice for respite care since he was 4. Now 20, it's time for him to move on and he would like to raise some money  to say a huge thank you for the years of wonderful support they have given to him and our family and to help them keep providing the crucial service they do.

Brian House provides specialist care to young people with life limiting or terminal conditions to give their families a break from providing their 24/7 health care needs. 
It is a truly amazing place with a positive atmosphere and highly skilled, caring and fun loving staff. The young people absolutely love the time they spend there, and Tom would always get so excited when I told him he was going.
Brian House also provides a huge level of emotional support to parents and families, many feel it is their life line and I have certainly felt this at some difficult times in Tom's rollercoaster journey.

Brian House is a Charity, receiving only a very small percentage of the funding they need from the Department of Health. To make this worse, Covid has hit their fundraising hard.

Tom's Fundraiser

Tom needs full support for standing and can do this with the aid of a standing harness.
He loves the feeling of freedom being in this gives him and tries very hard to make some small steps.  When he was younger he found this easy but as he has got older this has become much more challenging and tiring for him due to his scoliosis and spasticity in one of his legs.
However, he's a VERY determined person and in a session will often manage  4 or 5 steps.
Tom would like to aim to make 25 steps over a few sessions in the next few weeks to mark the fact that  it is Brian House's 25th Anniversary this year.
