Medicine for Danny

For the last four years, my dad, Danny, has been battling cancer on and off. He was originally diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma which turned out to actually be a very rare cancer called Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm (yeah, I know. It is definitely a mouthful). This cancer causes bumps across his skin and they become very itchy and painful. He has been in and out of the hospital receiving chemo for the last 3 years. In June of 2018, my aunt, Crystal, donated her bone marrow and my dad had a bone marrow transplant. He was put in remission and we thought that was it. A couple weeks ago he was rediagnosed, and it is coming back aggressively. His bumps are starting to return and every day he is in more pain and he is getting weaker. This time around he cannot have any chemo due to the fact that he has reached the limit of chemo he can receive. If he were to receive anymore it could cause his heart to fail. My dad's doctor at IU Health in Indianapolis wants to try a new drug that has recently came on the market called Tagraxofusp (yeah, I know. It is also a mouthful). The problem with this is that the cost of the drug is immense (around $250,000 for a five day dose). We don't know if one dose will be enough, but insurance is only going to pay $125,000 and the hospital refuses to pay the rest. I know raising $125,000 is probably near impossible, but to me it is worth a try. My family has been through a lot, and for my dad's life to be put aside for money is sickening. If you can donate anything at all, my family and I would greatly appreciate it. I will try my best to keep this page updated on what we find out from the doctors and/or insurance.
