Honoring Lucy, Helping Clyde

If there is one thing we could say about Lucy Bath, it’s that she knew how to love and care for others. Her quiet and unassuming smile, gentle conversation, patient disposition, and easy laughter brought a warmth to every place she ever entered. Lucy, was loved by all who met her.
As we celebrate her life, we deeply grieve its loss. None of us feel ready, least of all her beloved husband Clyde, of 49 years. Clyde and Lucy defined love, commitment, and support. Despite the many challenges that life brought their way—and life brought them many—they stood together, in love and solidarity, proud of their family, proud of their Newfoundland roots, and proud of their dedication to a power higher than themselves.
On January 5th, Lucy left this earth, after a courageous battle with cancer. We all said our loving goodbyes, but are still left reeling from the immense loss to our family. In particular Clyde—who not only relied on Lucy for love and companionship, but for health-related care too—is left with the most significant void. At the young age of 45, a stroke took Clyde’s ability to speak fully, along with the use of his right hand. Lucy, without hesitation, stood by her husband’s side, with love, kindness, and care. For Clyde, the loss of his wife is immeasurable.
As we move forward, we want to ensure Lucy is given the celebration of life she deserves and that Clyde is provided with the best of care. It’s challenging enough to bear the grief of losing someone that is so deeply loved, but even worse to lose someone who ensured our health and wellbeing.
Therefore, in lieu of flowers, and in support of the irreplaceable Lucy and her beloved Clyde, we started this GoFundMe page, to help relieve just some of the burden of care that can impact a person who is in need of extra support. Clyde is eager to return to his treasured La Scie and the home he shared with Lucy; he just needs a little extra assistance to ensure he can live there healthily and well.
