- I
For over a decade, the Friends of Mudford Action Group (FOMAG) has worked to represent local views and scrutinise major development proposals affecting Mudford, Trent, Marston Magna and Chilton Cantello.
We have assisted Mudford Parish Council in launching a judicial review of the Primrose Lane development and challenging the Land North of Mudford development. Together they plan to add 1000 homes to a parish that only has around 300!
FOMAG has serious concerns about flooding, traffic, affordable housing, inadequate sewage systems and credible eyewitnesses of anthrax burial sites.
The legal costs will be high and whatever the result, the work will go on. Other developers are determined to develop greenfield sites in the parish which will seriously affect the surrounding parishes and in a number of ways.
Please help us raise £15,000 by 1 July to continue this vital community advocacy and ensure local voices are clearly heard in major planning decisions whose effects will be felt for decades.
Origin Story
The Friends of Mudford Action Group (FOMAG) was established by local residents to challenge and scrutinise one particular large-scale development known as Primrose Lane about which local residents have serious concerns. These have not been adequately addressed.
FOMAG does not oppose development in principle. We support sustainable, well-planned growth that benefits local people and respects the environment. But we do insist that developers and planning authorities properly consider community concerns — and that decisions are based on evidence, not convenience and profit.
What We Do
Over the last ten years, FOMAG has:
- Commissioned expert reports on environmental impact, traffic and infrastructure
- Reviewed planning documents and technical studies
- Engaged with councils, professional consultants and legal advisers
- Represented local views in meetings with policy makers
- Raised awareness in Mudford and the wider community
These activities are time-consuming and expensive, yet crucial to ensure that planning decisions are transparent and grounded in facts — not assumptions.
Why Funds Are Needed Now
Currently, FOMAG’s funds are nearly exhausted after long campaigns and expert reviews. Without financial support, our ability to commission further evidence, obtain legal advice or properly engage in planning processes is severely limited.
We aim to raise £15,000 by 1 July to support:
- Continued scrutiny of planning applications affecting Mudford and nearby villages
- Expert advice and technical assessments of proposals
- Legal support where necessary
- Community outreach to ensure everyone’s voice is heard
- Make a serious contribution to the parish council to help pay for the costly judicial review.
Your Impact
Local planning decisions affect all of us — from traffic on the A359, to access to local services, as well as the character of our community character. Your donation will help:
- Ensure decisions are made with transparent evidence
- Protect flood-prone areas from inadequate planning solutions
- Promote sustainable development that reflects what you — local residents — want and need
Every donation — whether £10, £50 or £500 — contributes to a stronger community voice.
How You Can Help Beyond Donating
You can also support FOMAG by:
- Sharing this campaign with neighbours, friends and social media
- Joining our mailing list and attending meetings
- Helping spread awareness of planning proposals that affect our villages
- Contact your local MP and councillors to share your concerns.
Together, we can ensure that the future of Mudford and the surrounding villages is shaped by local people, not distant decisions.
Thank you for supporting FOMAG and defending local voices in planning decisions.
