TO BE FREE- VERONZA BOWERS

Veronza Bowers, 70, is a US held Political Prisoner.  He is an original member of the Black Panther Party who was captured, convicted, and sentenced to 30 years in prison as a target of the FBI's COINTELPRO program.  Veronza has maintained his innocence throughout his decades long imprisonment. In 2005, he was granted parole on a mandatory release, but continues to be illegally incarcerated. He has been imprisoned for over 42 years.

I am raising funds to cover legal fees associated with Veronza's ongoing fight for his immediate release.  Funds will also support the development of a book of letters written to and from political prisoners that will be used as a fundraising tool for Veronza Bowers and other political prisoners.

Veronza is one of the many political prisoners that I have corresponded with and visited over the past ten years.  He has become a friend and a mentor to me and my son.  It would mean so much to me and his loved ones to see him free.
