"Character is the way a person acts when nobody is watching"

The Cam Christian Memorial Tournament is in honor of Cam Christian and all net proceeds are used to support the Cam Christian Memorial Fund.

Who is Cam Christian?

Cameron John Christian was born on February 7, 1989 in Renton, WA and passed away in a single caraccident outside of Priest River, Idaho in the early morning hours of October 16, 2011.

Cam credited much of his success in life both on and off the field to the greatest game in the world, and there were few things he loved more than baseball. Cam lived life fully and was always smiling, laughing, and looking for a game to play or ball to toss. In High School, he made All State Pitcher and All Team South Puget Sound League, and he helped take his Auburn High baseball team to the State Playoffs in 2006 and 2007. After high school, Cameron continued his baseball career at both Washington State University and Spokane Falls Community College in 2008 and 2009. He was named Rookie of the Year for the Okotoks Dawgs in Okotoks, Canada the summer of 2008, where his team went on to win the league championship. Most recently, Cam was a left-handed pitcher and Captain (#21) of the Seattle University Redhawks baseball team. He was a History major with a goal to be a middle school history teacher and someday a college coach. Of course, his first dream was to make it to “the bigs” in Major League Baseball.

As much as Cameron loved the game, he came to realize that there were things in life that are bigger than baseball. As a student athlete and later as a summer coach, Cameron believed that it was his responsibility to use the game that gave so much to him to give back to his community. He volunteered his time giving hitting and pitching lessons for young players, helped out at multiple baseball camps, coached a summer baseball team, and volunteered with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation as a big brother to a pediatric brain cancer patient.  In all things, Cameron tried to inspire others to be the their best selves both on and off the field, to stay in school and get good grades, and to use their skills and talents to lead and give back to the community.

What is the Cam Christian Memorial Fund?

The Cam Christian Memorial Fund was set up in memory of Cameron as a way to give back to both the game and community he called home. Through the fund, a scholarship is awarded to one baseball/softball student athlete at each of the 3 high schools in the Auburn School District each year. Individuals deserving of this award must meet certain criteria exemplified by Cam’s life, including: Respect for the game, Leadership, and giving back to the community.

Thank you for helping to keep his legacy alive!
