Medical Bills for Kayley

Donation protected
On September 10, 2014 Kayley suffered from a ruptured appendix. After an appendectomy, we thought the worst was over. What we didn't know is that God sent Kayley to the hospital for another reason...TO FIND HER CANCER. My niece, Kayley is 13 years old.

Please read her story and share and most importantly PLEASE consider donating to help offset her medical bills that my sister and brother in law will incur.  After many tests, biopsies, a week in ICU and numerous upcoming chemo treatments, they could use some help.  This fund will go directly to Stephanie and Nathan Poteet for Kayley's medical expenses. THANK YOU...and Please share her story.

Kayley's Story:

In an initial ct scan, a flap of skin from her heart to her lung was discovered and prompted doctors to do more testing. The next day, Kayley had a CT scan done of her chest. The CT scan revealed concerns and they went in with cameras to take a biopsy. Doctors operated on Kayley to remove what they thought was an overgrown Thymus gland and get a better biopsy.  Her surgery was supposed to take anywhere from 2-7 hours. Once doctors started to remove the overgrown tissue, it was evident that they were dealing with something bigger, a malignant tumor. Preliminary biopsies showed her tumor to be Lymphoma. After blood transfusions, almost losing her lung, and almost 12 hours in surgery, Kayley was finally done and in ICU.

Due to such a long surgery, it proved to be too much on Kayley's left side of her lung. She got a fever of 103.8 and had to be put on a Bi Pap to help her lung to expand. Her left lung took the hardest hit during surgery and was operated on for about 4 hours. They did bone marrow biopsies as well and inserted a port underneath her skin for future chemo.

Kayley spent a week in ICU recovering, strengthening her lung and fighting! She has been been informed of the heartbreaking news and is dealing with it day by day like a champ. Results came back as Hodgkin's Lymphoma. However, it did not spread to her bone marrow! Kayley will have to undergo intense chemo treatments in the upcoming months. She had a PET scan this morning to search the rest of her body for cancer. We are anxiously awaiting results and praying for a clear scan and waiting on results for a pulmonary function test as well.

Please consider helping this family. They have been through so much already and have a long road ahead. Prayers for Kayley and if you can find it in your heart and wallet, please donate.  You have NO idea how much you are helping in doing so.  Any amount will be amazing and appreciated more than you will ever know!

Thank you...and Prayers for Kayley!
