Lift for Life's Weightlifting Team

DONATE TO LIFT FOR LIFE GYM'S WEIGHTLIFTING TEAM!!!

At the end of June, these talented weightlifters will compete at the Youth National Championships.   As ranking stand now, each lifter has a great chance to medal this year and because of our team growth, we will have a great chance to win the boys team title!

The Olympic Lifters at Lift for Life Gym an incredible 2014!  15 medals at the Youth Nationals, 12 medals at an International Meet at the Olympic Training Center and 3 (two 13 YO and one 14 YO) qualified to the 20 & Under Junior Championships.  BIG things are going to happen in 2015!

This February, Ashley 14, Jerrone 13, and Jerome 13 will compete at the Junior Nationals February 12-13th.  Besides competing for National Championship honors, they will be fighting for one of 8 slots on the Youth World Team.  If they make the team they will be traveling to the Olympic Training Center for a week of training and then fly to Lima, Peru for the competition in April.  This trip will only be partially funded by USA Weightlifting so Lift for Life will have to foot the other side of the bill.  Please help us by making a charitable donation to help us cover these costs of travel and training.
All money raised will go directly to sustaining the Lift for Life Gym's weightlifting program. Donations will help provide students with weightlifting shoes, gym chalk, athletic tape, adding new lifters to the team and transportation to and from The Lab Gym (their training facility). Our goal is to raise enough money to also cover meet entry fees, meals, lodging and transportation for at least five local competitions, two - three overnight semi-local meets, the 2015 national championships and the 2015 International Invitational.
About the Lift for Life Gym's Weightlifting Program
Over 26 years ago, Lift for Life Gym was developed as a safe place for St. Louis’ inner city youth to have a place to go after school and in the summers. While originally focusing solely on weightlifting, today programing includes tutoring, computer literacy, college prep course, mentoring services, athletics, life skills courses, cooking classes. In addition to the programs, students receive transportation to and from facilities. In early 2012 the Lab Gym adopted the Olympic lifting team, helping provide coaching, training space, equipment and a support community. The Lab Gym provides a supportive environment that allows students to safely learn and practice weightlifting. Coaches help students develop a skill set that promotes speed, agility, quick feet, balance, dynamic flexibility, plus strength and explosiveness.
