Zambian WW II veterans fund

Donation protected

I run a community Facebook site focused on a small mining town in Zambia called Luanshya.
There are three World War II veterans in the town that aged 90, 92 & 93. They live in very poor conditions unbefitting of a British War veteran and it makes me very sad.
Through the Facebook group we managed to raise about £150.00 in the last few weeks so we could but them some food and mosquito nets which was really appreciated.
I don't know if this is going to work, but I'm going to give it a go and make an appeal. I would like to raise enough money to put them in more comfortable accommodation and buy them some food, if this happens it would give them some dignity, hopefully extend their lives by getting some much needed medical treatment and put a smile on their faces.
Here is a message I received from my friend in Zambia this morning:

John Kanyakula and I visited the three ex-servicemen of Luanshya today. We found one of them in extremely poor shape. This is Diamond Mweeta. He is not well and was alone in the house. His wife left him and married someone else. She virtually emptied the house. John and I immediately went to the store and purchased some food (fish, vegetables and beans) as well as mosquito nets. We took them back to his house. We made him eat some bread and jam. Tomorrow we will return with more food and deliver the mosquito nets to the other two men as well. All of them are showing signs of growing weaker. At 90, 92 & 93 they are moving slowly, but all three got out of bed when we arrived. You gift was deeply appreciated.

Thank you so much for helping these heros.
