Help Evelyn and Her Family Be Safe

Donation protected

On February 8th,  Evelyn's Step-Father crossed the street to go to his work as a home painter.   He would return later handcuffed on an Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) vehicle with agents that warned Evelyn, her 2 siblings and mother that the father was detained and in deportation process.  Fredy was detained, thrown on the floor and put in deportation procedures for jay crossing on Buford Highway.  ICE mentioned to Evelyn and her siblings that they will return to the apartment to check the family documentation.

Fredy Del Valle did not have any criminal background or deportation order according to the family.  On the contrary, he is a hard-working man that was a blessing for the family he chose.  Fredy and Evelyn's mother, Victoria, had married on February 7th, a day before he was detained.

Evelyn and their family are afraid that ICE will come back and take their mother Victoria that in spite of being in the US for over 23 years, fears for her freedom.

This family needs to move to a different apartment where they feel safe and can try to continue their struggle as a split family.  The apartment complex manager has not been forthcoming and has requested full payment of their lease before releasing them.

All donations requested will go towards a fund that will assist Evelyn, her 2 siblings and mother move and feel safer in a different apartment complex.

Evelyn is a high-school student. She also works part-time at McDonalds with her mother.

Evelyn's story was featured TODAY at "A Closer Look" in WABE, the local NPR station.  Click here to listen to it.
