Miranda's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Miranda has had some health issues for the last year. In July she had a seizure and a complete blackout when she was home, luckily with her family around. This was when a cavernous malformation (cavernoma) that had bled inside the front right ventricle her brain was discovered by MRI as the cause of the seizure. Intraventricular cavernomas are dangerous and account for approximately 2% of all cases of cavernous malformations, so it was decided that Miranda has to undergo surgery to remove it.

Luckily her family has insurance for the extremely expensive surgery, but even after insurance coverage, the surgery is in the thousands out of pocket. Having been hit with an unusually high number of medical bills over the year, including the overnight hospital visit in July when it was discovered, it is a hard financial hit.

Whatever is donated here will go directly to the family to pay their medical bills.

These MRIs show where the cavernoma is located and how important it is for it to be removed as fast as possible.

Miranda has Von Willebrand disease and because of that she stands in risk of bleeding out, the risk is much greater during a brain surgery.
The specialists needed for her surgery,  a Hematologist and Cardiologist, needs to be paid out of the family's own pocket.

Medical specifics about her disease.
Von Willebrand disease is a condition that can cause extended or excessive bleeding. The condition is most often inherited but in rare cases may develop later in life.

The cause of von Willebrand disease is a deficiency in or impairment of a protein called von Willebrand factor, an important component in your blood-clotting process. In general, it takes longer for people with von Willebrand disease to form clots and stop bleeding when they're cut.

Treatment of von Willebrand disease focuses on stopping or preventing bleeding episodes, typically by using medications. With the right treatment, most people with von Willebrand disease can lead relatively normal, healthy lives.

Update:

The surgery was a success, luckily.
They had to use 18 surgical staples to close the wound; this shows the seriousness of the operation. So far they have paid over 12000$ to the hospital, that's the sum they needed to have before they could even begin the surgery.

The costs have nearly brought the family to ruin, and are currently struggling through hard times.
Together we can help a family out of a desperate situation.

Thank you!
