Erica Fielder Art Studio Fire Fund

On April 26th, a catastrophic fire ripped through the building housing a number of studios, including Erica’s. Fire, smoke, and water destroyed 30 years of her artwork, supplies, studio furnishings, and equipment.

Even before that, starting in January, her Interpretive Design and Art business was disrupted by a misguided roofing project. Despite the rainiest month of the year, roofers stripped off 6 layers of old roofing down to the roof deck boards. As the roofing came off, water trapped between old layers spilled into her studio along with sticky asphalt debris, blackening all exposed surfaces. She and her husband happened to arrive in time to tarp the studio, but not before sustaining some equipment and art damage.

With the studio unusable, they crowded a fraction of her workspace into their master bedroom so Erica could continue working on commissioned projects as best she could. 90% of her art supplies, most studio furniture, and 30 years of artwork remained beneath tarps in her studio. After the roof was completed in March, she began to remove tarps, clean up the sticky black mess and put together a retrospective show for May that would include the 30 years of work stored in her studio.

Then, on April 26th, the fire happened.

Although most of her studio was not directly burned, the entire studio was inundated with smoke and water, destroying most of her 30-years’ collection of artwork, supplies, studio furniture, and a library of art books.

Erica’s insurance will only cover some of the damaged materials. Between cleaning up the first mess and addressing the current catastrophe and cleanup, she has lost months of work and income on commissions and on her business progress.

Your Go Fund Me donations will help Erica recoup costs of art materials, replace studio furniture, and cover the expense of salvaging some artworks. She also needs to recoup some of the value of her destroyed art that was to be sold in the 30-year retrospective show. In addition, she needs to begin to create an adequate new studio and raise capital to rebuild her business.
