Esme O'Malley's Legacy

Donation protected
I received a phone call yesterday with about the saddest news I have ever heard in my life...

A close friend of mine who has family in Forestburg, AB got some life changing news from them.

His nephew (Michael O'Malley) lives in Forestburg with his wife (Amanda) and two beautiful children. Son (Davin - 4) and daugher (Esme - 2).

It was the regular morning routine for the family yesterday, Mom and Dad got up with the kids and had breakfast. Dad had an appointment to go to, and went outside to warm up his truck. Mom slipped into the bathroom for a quick moment thinking Dad had already left on his way to his appointment.

The kids thought this an opportune time to go outside and play in the yard. Dad, still warming up his truck was completely unaware that they had gotten outside. He put his truck in reverse and backed up to leave, not realizing his children were now behind his truck.

His four year old son managed to get out of the way, but little Esme did not. She passed away later that day in the hospital.

It's every parent's worst fear to lose a child. This is such a tragic event, I can't even begin to understand what this family is going though but this story touched me in such a way that I needed to do something to help.

The O'Malley's are going to need to cover their basic day to day costs while off work, pay for their daughter's funeral among other expenses. They have not asked for help or donations, but I feel the need to help in any way I can and I hope you can find it in your heart to do the same.

Money will not bring baby Esme back, but with what this family is going through, I feel that they don't need to endure any kind of financial hardship on top of everything else.

For anyone who can't or doesn't wish to donate, please send prayers to this family in their time of loss.

AND TO EVERYONE WHO READS THIS:

PLEASE hold your children tight. This is a very very horrible accident and should be a reminder to everyone how quickly life can change. Don't ever take the life you have for granted.
