My name is Jamie-Leigh Gonzales (informally known as Jams). I am the host/editor/producer of "Engaged Citizen X Podcast."
I started this podcast as a way to celebrate the local voices and stories of revolution in Vancouver. I often feel a large gap in our media coverage and conversations here on the west coast, and I wanted to give the local voices a platform to express themselves. I focus on local art, stories and social movements that influence our community
I also aim to create a connection from the public, the community and the listeners to the "engaged citizens" who I have on the show. Providing suggestions and ways to get involved at the end of each episode.
I love Vancouver and I want to continue to find local voices and stories of revolution to share with you all, but in order to do that I need some funding to keep me going.
At the moment I'm creating the podcast with borrowed equipment, and I'd love to purchase my own to give me a bit more freedom, to streamline my process and make it all a little more professional. At this point in time I'm looking to get 2 new microphones with pop screens as well as a recorder (plus cables and a hard drive). On top of that I'm hoping for a little additional help in order to pay a local Vancouver artist to design a logo for me and to also help occasionally "boost" the posts for new episodes to get a little more attention.
I'm hoping to have the funds by the New Year and to maybe even post January's episode using the new equipment.
I love this project. It is one of the most exhausting and time consuming projects I've created and it is also the most rewarding and fulfilling. I love this city and I refuse to let the voices of change, culture, art, and engagement go unheard.
