I humbly ask you to please help me to raise funds so that I may undergo a third total-hip arthoplasty replacement. If you'd like to know more about me then read on my friends! :)
I am a 29 year old female with Spondyloepiphyeseal Dysplasia. Having Spondyloepiphyeseal Dysplasia, in layman’s terms, means that I have a growth disorder which affects my spine and joints. The following is a brief history about my condition:
On May 1995 at age 10, I was diagnosed with my condition by Dr. Jan A. Bollinger, and on July of that same year, I was evaluated by a team at the Honolulu Shriner’s Hospital for Children. I underwent my first total right hip replacement at the Shriner’s Hospital in March of 1998 in Honolulu and in 2004 I underwent a total left hip replacement and a revision procedure on my right hip.
On October 2012 I was evaluated by Dr. Arafiles at the Guam Medical Plaza, I was assessed of having loosened total hip arthroplasty with possible wearing out of the acetabular liner on my right hip. Dr. Arafiles recommended that I undergo revision surgery on my right hip, which may only consist of replacing the acetabular liner. However, if loosening of the acetabular component is determined during surgery, then that may be replaced as well.

Most recently on August 2014 thanks to the financial help of family and friends I was able travel to St. Lukes Medical Center in Global City Philippines to meet with Orthopedic specialist Dr.Tiambeng. He informed me that rather than a revision to the liner on my right hip, I would have undergo a third Total Hip replacement with a new type of arthroplasty due to the wearing away of my thigh bone which holds the total hip arthroplasty in its place. Although this will be a major surgery which will consit of long term recovery, I did receive good news and that is that the cost of the surgery is practically free! However, I will still need to rasie funds for the hospital sevices such as any blood transfusions, any medication I will need, bandages etc., not to mention airfare, lodging and food for myself and my cousin who will be helping me during my recovery. My estimated stay will be from 3weeks to 1month.
