Sponser Miss PDX Contestant

Donation protected

My name is Krystle, and I turn 19 on the 22nd of September this year, 2014. That's what pushed me into finally deciding to go for one of the many mailed invitations to participate in various pageants I've received. The age bracket of eligibility is ages 7 through 19. This is the last year I can do it. "It" being participating in the 2014 Miss Teen Portland (OR) Pageant. I preregistered to attend the September 14th preliminary event, and was emailed my acceptance the very next day on September 15th. Today is September 16th, and now that I'm accepted, it's time to start looking for sponsors!

The whole pageant runs on sponsors, and this is where you come in! Each contestant must secure a total of $495.00 in sponsorships to participate in the competition.

I know what you're thinking, 'but you're asking for $700! That's over $200 more!' Right?

Well, let me finish. There is an optional portion of the pageant, called the Miss Photogenic Contest. Those interested in especially modeling are encouraged to sign up, but those interested in acting are also encouraged to do so. Acting is my passion, for over a decade I've known it's my calling and what I want to do in life. Even if I don't win, this whole participation in the pageant and contest might just get me exposure with the right people.
Anyway, in order to participate in Miss Photogenic, there is a $125.00 fee.

Yes, yes, I know, 'But $495 and $125 only adds up to $620! That's still $80 less than you're asking for.'

I understand. Thing is, having a donation page through Go Fund Me requires 2.9% of all donations go to the site (I mean, it has to stay open somehow, right?), plus $0.30 cents of every donation. Now, because I have no idea how many that's going to be, I rounded up to the next highest hundred above my goal to be able to safely cover that fee.

But what is 2014 Miss Teen Portland? What is the Miss Photogenic Contest? How do we know this isn’t a scam?

Well, here are a couple links for you to validate for yourself that these are indeed legitimate contests and that I am not making them up:

If you still have concerns, please read this Letter to All Sponsors:

2014 Miss Teen Portland would like to thank you for considering sponsorship of the contestant who has presented this letter to you. We would also like to give you a better understanding of our program and the goals we have set for each contestant.
The contestant presenting this letter to you has applied to the 2014 Miss Teen Portland competition. A pageant representative has interviewed the contestant to determine her eligibility and acceptance into the pageant. It is important to understand that not all potential contestants who have applied will participate in this year’s competition. Those contestants who have been accepted will provide you with an acceptance number that confirms her acceptance into this year’s competition. You may also contact our Coordinator at 1-877-403-6678 to determine the contestant’s eligibility.

In order to participate in this year’s competition, each contestant must secure sponsorship from businesses and organizations in her community. The total sponsorship will cover the following expenses: Application and Processing, Training Class, Rehearsal, Production Costs and all funds used for prizes. Please be advised that sponsorships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
The pageant competition is an excellent opportunity for contestants to make new friends, develop self-confidence, and learn the necessary skills to succeed at home, at school, and in the work place. Your sponsorship will help the young ladies of today become the successful adults of tomorrow.

The first leg of the pageant is on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Rehearsal will take place earlier in the day, personal interviews will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014, and training class will take place on September 28, 2014. By the September 28 date, I will need half of the sponsorship money, which will be $350. The rest of it will be due on October 11th, the day before the pageant itself.

In closing, any amount you choose to donate will be helpful, and I will be extremely grateful for it!
