Dear Friends and Family,

The Moua family is kindly asking for your prayers, support, and donations through this difficult time. Jim, (17) a senior at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Ca. was injured in a hunting accident on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014.

Jim, along with his younger brother and father went hunting at Las Padres National Park. Jim just got back to camp from his usual spot and was standing on a log while leaning against a tree where his younger brother was sitting. Jim was wearing a camouflage jacket with a white undershirt. Another hunter mistakenly took Jim's white undershirt for the tail of a squirrel and fired his shotgun from about 25-30 yards away. Scared and distraught, his younger brother called his dad on the radio and told him that Jim had just been shot. By the time his dad got there, the hunter that shot Jim was already holding and caring for him.

The younger brother, terrified and shocked by the entire ordeal ran toward their truck which was parked on the side of the road where he had hoped to flag-down oncoming motorist. On his trek back to the truck, he fell and stumble a couple of times before he ran across another group of hunters. Gratefully, these hunters were able to act quickly and notify first responders. However, because of the thick brushes and harsh terrains, Jim had to be airlifted and flown out to a nearby waiting helicopter, which flew him to the hospital. Approximately fours after the incident, Jim finally reached the hospital.

The impact was devastating. He had over a dozen pellets in his torso. In addition to 10 in his chest area, a couple to the neck, face and forehead. One hit just an inch above his left eye and another pellet penetrated his stomach. Majority of the pellets were removed through surgery except for a few that are lodged way back in his brain. Doctors noted that it was too risky to remove them now so they have chosen to leave them in for now.

Thank you to all the heroes that supported with Jim's rescue. Our family is truly grateful for your kindness.

Jim is still currently recovering in ICU at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, Ca. Mid afternoon following the surgery, Jim was able to open his eyes and move his hands/feet. His condition is slowly getting better, but doctors are still saying it's too early to tell.
We ask that you continue to please pray for Jim to have a speedy recovery so he can come home.
