Dear Friends, Family, Acquaintances, & Supporters of Artists,
I am Justin G. Nelson, a current performer in Memphis, Tennessee. Since I first performed years ago, it has been my dream to be a performer in New York. While in Memphis, I have acted in a number ofproductions including but not limited to Mary Poppins, Hairspray, Gypsy, Spamalot, Peter Pan, The Color Purple, Miss Saigon, Dreamgirls, A Chorus Line, Legally Blonde, Chicago, Aesop’s Fableous Christmas Tree, How to Succeed in Business and Footloose. After overcoming a lot of personal obstacles and working my way through graduate school, I am finally close to being able to pursue my dream.
Fulfilling my dream will also help others to fulfill theirs. I plan to use my education, creativity, and professional experience to not only improve in the field of performing arts, but also to find employment in New York at nearby secondary schools, where I will be able to teach young people there and help them to accomplish their goals.
However, just as many people whose career choices have required them to relocate have learned, getting there is very difficult.
So I'm asking for your help! I am trying to raise enough money for a plane ticket and living expenses until I find a job. Once I arrive in New York, I will be able to live with friends until I am able to have my own place. I have already been applying for teaching jobs as well as administrative positions. I am energetic and driven, involved in my local church and trust God will put it in some of your hearts to help me. No amount is too small and all is greatly appreciated. Please help me so that one day, I will be able to pay it forward.
