Robs Miracle Transplant!

Donation protected

(Updates in BOLD) Rob Reilly has been battling illness, and dealt with years of medical issues due to two rare genetic diseases that he was diagnosed with over ten years ago. The long-term prognosis was ultimately a Liver and Kidney transplant. On Monday of this week (9/8/14) Rob received a negative report from his Kidney specialist stating that he would need dialysis within the next 6-12 months. With his kidneys declining, a transplant was the only option aside from a miracle. On Tuesday (9/9/14) Tiffany received a phone call from a dear friend who was about to lose her 42-year-old Mother-in-law due to cardiac arrest triggered by a seizure. The family was understandably in a very dark place until the doctor came in and told them that their mother was an organ donor and asked if there was anyone they wanted to donate her organs to. Even though her son had only met Rob once, he remembered his need and asked his wife to call her friend Tiffany. In the midst of this family's tragedy, they had the courage to see beyond their distress and give life to Rob. This family wanted to give both a liver and kidney to Rob but the chances of her being a match were slim.

With a quick prayer asking God to close the door if this was not Him, Tiffany and Rob submitted his information. Over the course of the next few hours and many tests, it was determined that not only were all of her organs in good condition, but this woman was a perfect match for Rob- something that is virtually unheard of! Tiffany and Robert received the life-changing phone call that afternoon informing them that the organs were indeed a match and they needed to head to the hospital to begin preparations for the surgery. The liver transplant was supposed to take up to 24 hours to complete, then the doctors would wait another 24 hours to allow his body to rest before beginning the kidney transplant. However, Rob was doing so well after the liver transplant that his doctors decided to transplant the kidney the same day- the entire procedure that should have spanned out over 2 days was completed in under 14 hours! UPDATE: Rob and Tiff didn't know about this until after the Surgery was performed, but Rob had been suffering from major digestive trauma due to a surgery he had 10 years ago! A section of his large intestine had been balled up and smashed, his bowels had been twisted, and his liver was in really bad shape! The surgeon was able to straighten his intestines, untwist his bowel, and put him back together correctly. Also during the course of his years of treatment,a clear image was never taken of the liver with contrast because of the danger it posed to the kidneys. When Dr. Ghobrial opened Rob up, he realized that his liver was in much worse shape than they had known, and if this opportunity for transplant hadn't come when it did, Rob's chances for survival would have been slim to none. His Liver was on the brink of failure! This is another confirmation that GOD was the one orchestrating this and His timing couldn't have been more perfect!! Rob is currently in ICU and on the way to recovery.

Rob and Tiffany have a long road ahead of them, and ask for your continued prayers that he would heal quickly without complications, and that his body would not reject his new organs. Along with your prayers and support, the Reilly family also needs your help with some very real financial burdens they are facing. Rob will have to continue to take anti-rejection medication for the remainder of his life- these drugs alone are very expensive.  Rob's Transplant was perceivably 5 to 10 years away and this direct organ donation has come as a miraculous surprise, but the Reilly family is obviously unprepared for this financial undertaking. Along with the costly medications, and ginormous hospital bills, they also have a beautiful 7 month old to take care of and the mounting expenses that having a baby boy entails. Although they would never ask themselves- the Reilly family needs your help to raise the money to get them through this next part of the journey and we (their friends and family) are asking that you consider partnering with them by donating to this Go Fund. We know that God has orchestrated every step of this crazy journey and have no doubt in our minds that every financial need will be met just as every physical one has been. Thank-you all for your continued support, love, and prayers for Rob's recovery- and let's all donate what we can and see God work a miracle in their finances too!
