Please help me finish raising funds to create a permanent record of this milestone enamel exhibition with a beautifully designed and off set printed catalog!

Vitreous Voices: The Enamel Tradition of East Carolina University, an exhibition featuring work by 23 East Carolina University alumni and 5 distinguished professors, is presented from January 5 – 25, 2018 in the Wellington B. Gray Gallery, Jenkins Fine Arts Building of East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina.

Vitreous Voices honors 36 years of enameling at ECU as it recognizes the leaders who initiated the program as well as those who have carried its traditions forward.  ECU’s commitment to enameling began in 1982 when artist Linda Darty, with the support and encouragement of department chair John Satterfield, taught the first enameling class.  Reflecting on that moment, Darty stated “It was John Satterfield who not only encouraged me to create the enameling program but also gave me the courage to continue to develop it with passion and focus.  The work in this exhibition conveys the creative and technical energy of our program and the diversity of what can be created with enamel – filling me with inspiration and immense pride.”

In addition to several examples of Linda Darty’s work, Vitreous Voices features work by current and former ECU faculty members Ken Bova, Bob Ebendorf, Mi-Sook Hur, and Tim Lazure.  It also includes work by 23 ECU graduates who exemplify the rich diversity of techniques and perspectives encountered in ECU’s nationally-respected programs.  Among the many talented alumni are Kat Cole, Charity Hall, Zachery Lechtenberg, Sharon Massey, Barbara McFadyen, Marissa Saneholtz, and others.  Describing the work featured in the exhibition Darty stated, “Each piece in this exhibition tells a story of far-sighted creative vision, tenacity, and collaborative support.”
