On the 27th of December I am heading South to Haiti to love the women and babies of a northern town called Cap Haitian. As you may know, Haiti holds the #1 spot for highest infant mortality rate in the western hemisphere. There are so many babies are not making it to their first 24 hours or first year!
I was part of an amazing trip to Port-au-Prince in October 2010 and Haiti still holds a pretty good chunk of my heart.
As you probably already know. God has given me a huge heart for babies and birth AND for Justice for His people here at home and in the 3rd world. He continues to bring me mamas to support here locally and most recently, my sweet friends from Africa who need so much love and support adjusting to living in our crazy part of the world...And in true God fashion, He now drops an opportunity in my lap that intertwines it all!
What I will be doing is working at Mama Baby Haiti which is a nonprofit that runs a free clinic and birth center for this northern part of haiti. I will be offering support to the laboring mamas, loving them, and they even asked me to possibly teach a postpartum class while I am there!
I am so excited for this trip but I cannot do it on my own! I need prayers and encouragement as well as help with finances to make this all happen. My trip is going to cost roughly around $2000 with airfare, travel within Haiti, room, food etc. This is always the daunting part for me and the part where I shut off and say "it cannot be done." but for some reason with this opportunity, so far all the stars seem to align (or should I dare say, God really wants me to go!!)
So I am gonna believe in His plans, trust in His provisions and hold strong to the truths I know about His heart! He ALWAYS provides in miraculous ways!

I WANT MY WORK IN THIS LIFE TO MATTER
I want to impact others and advocate for those whose voices are not always heard. I want to set an example for my daughters that this life isn't about us. That we are to love others well in action and in word. That we have a choice in how we spend our time and what we put our energy in and that life is best spent loving others more then ourselves!
