Read me a story, and I'll glimpse the edge of imagination: teach me to read, and I'll know the forever of possibilities ...

Eat Drink Read is an annual event where top San Diego chefs come together to prepare dishes based on their favorite books to raise funds for the San Diego Council on Literacy. Online campaign rewards include: insider culinary/art tours throughout San Diego, La Jolla Lights Cocktail Party with renown Chef James Montejano of La Valencia, a party in the nationally acclaimed Triton Garden Gallery Party with super popular Chef Ruben Gonzales of Bier Garden and a hands on culinary tour of trendy Guadeloupe Valley with area expert Chef Monica Szepesy.

Next year marks the 7th anniversary of Eat Drink Read and the 30th anniversary of the San Diego Council on Literacy. The Eat Drink Read cookbook will feature over 30 local chefs and companies representing the best culinary talent in San Diego. Participants include Andrew Bachelier, Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, Beck Grove/La Vigne Organics, Brandon Brooks, Culture Brewing Co., Andrea Davis, Jose Duran, Eclipse Chocolate, Jason Gethin, Bernard Guillas, Hiatus Cellars, Kat Johnson, Rachel King, Lhasa Landry, Accursio Lota, Brian Malarkey, Jason McLeod, Milagro Farm Winery, James Montejano, Michael Mora, Stephen Riemer, Russell Rummer, Vince Schofield, Paul Schwab, Shawn’s Toffees, Andrew Spurgin, Monica Szepesy, Venom Vodka, Davin Waite, Veronica Wheat, Chad White and Ruben Zamarripa. And DiningOut San Diego Publisher Josh Kopelman is writing the introduction.

The book, scheduled for release next May, will celebrate the best of San Diego’s culinary creativity with profits benefiting the Literacy Council’s campaign to advance literacy in San Diego County. We invite you to join us alongside our celebrated chefs for the GoFundMe Launch Party at Quad Ale House on August 6th. The book will be sold at next year’s Eat Drink Read event and Encinitas Foodie Fest 2016. The festival will showcase celebrity chef book signings at Savory Spice Shop in The Lumberyard.
