Honduras Mission Trip

Donation protected
Greetings!!!!
I remember from a young age feeling led to serve the destitute and underprivileged. After high school this desire would lead me to School of the Cross in Houston, TX where we provided various outreach services to the impoverished, inner-city population. That was in 1998. After School of the Cross, my life did not particularly play out the way I thought it would…but there’s not 1 day that I regret because I know it has all been a part of God’s plan. Today I am so very thankful for the current state of my life. I am in the amazing Shreveport/Bossier community, hold a position at the Philadelphia Center where I’m thankful to serve a beautiful population, and attend a church that I feel epitomizes the love and acceptance of Christ, Grace Community. Mid 2014 I was encouraged by my pastor, Rev. Katie McKay-Simpson at First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, to visit Grace in Shreveport upon my completion of graduate school. So I did. Not only have I felt a true welcome by the congregation, they have also intertwined me in their mission of caring and serving this wonderful community. In June of this year I was informed about a mission trip the church was hosting to Honduras this November. I wanted to go, but did not think that it would be possible with such short notice. I thought “maybe next year…funds are tight.” At a service on September 7th someone casually informed me that a spot came open on the trip…a spark immediately went off. Through prayer and conversation, I’ve realized that there’s only one thing holding me back…me. Well, I’m deciding to walk out on faith and believe that God will provide the way…So that is why I am writing this letter and asking for your support…Whatever you feel led to do…prayers, encouragement, and/or financial.
I know we don’t all hold the same beliefs…Thank goodness! I’m not going to “confront” or “force” a belief system on anyone…I’m going to serve, and to show the love and acceptance that Christ has shown me. There are several projects that we will be working on, including, but not limited to, installing water filter systems, medical support, a school project, installing outdoor latrines, assisting in VBS, and construction projects…None of which I really know how to do, but I do have two hands and eagerness to serve.
My trip cost is approximately $1700. It covers my food/lodging/transportation, mission’s expenses, passport fees, vaccinations, and a small amount of spending money. This money will need to be raised by the second week of October. Yes, a short time. My promise to you is that if the funds are not raised, then I will donate ALL funds raised to the individuals already signed up and paid. If I receive additional funds, they will go to the general mission’s fund for the trip. Sending my church a gift directly is an alternative method to making a gift. You can message me for those instructions.

I feel truly blessed to be in a position where I can be used by God to serve His people. Thank you for considering your support. Please call/text/email if you would like more details or have any questions.

Peace be with You,
-Patrick Myles Cameron
